Trainers and Consultants

Randy Grieser, MSW, RSW

Randy is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor degree in Conflict Resolution. He has also completed advanced training in threat assessment and management. Prior to becoming the Director of CTRI, he worked directly with issues of crisis and trauma while being employed in the areas of mental health, counselling and crisis management within community, school and hospital settings. Randy is a dynamic presenter who delivers content-oriented presentations that are both engaging and informative.


Paul Carrick, MSW, RSW

Paul Carrick is a passionate therapist who has been providing counseling services for individuals, couples and groups for over 12 years. Paul holds a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work that compliments his extensive experience in the fields of crisis and suicide, trauma, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, conflict resolution and mediation, among others. Paul is also a trainer and educator to a wide range of private and public sectors, mixing humor with an energetic, engaging presentation style. Paul currently works for an EAP provider and holds a small private practice.


Kimberly Enns, MSW, RSW

Kimberly Enns is a Registered Social Worker, holding a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor degree in Psychology. Her work experience includes clinical case management and trauma counseling with adults with mental illness and high needs children and youth in the child welfare system. Kimberly facilitates CTRI workshops and services in the areas of self-injury, disordered eating and crisis response. She draws on her experience in the field and passion for these issues to provide energetic, enlightening and interactive presentations. In addition to her work with CTRI Inc., Kimberly maintains a private counseling practice for individuals and families.


Alex Abdel-Malek, MSW, RCC

Alex is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has over 15 years of experience as a therapist and trainer. His background includes working in the areas of crisis response, suicide intervention, addictions, mental health and eating disorders. In addition to training with CTRI, he is a private therapist in the Vancouver area. Alex has many years of teaching experience, from clinical coursework in post-secondary settings to specialized workshop training sessions for organizations. He brings a genuine enthusiasm and passion to the trainer role and supports participants to get the most out of each learning experience.


Veroniek Marshall, MMFT

Veroniek has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Native Studies. Besides her work with CTRI, she sees clients in a private practice and works with families affected by domestic violence at a community health centre. In addition, she is a clinical supervisor and instructor at the University of Winnipeg Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy Program. Veroniek's style of training is concise and energetic as she encourages participation to optimize learning. She facilitates CTRI workshops and services related to trauma, self-injury, mental illness, motivating change and suicide.


Vicki Enns, MMFT

Vicki has been working as a clinical therapist for the past fifteen years in the areas of trauma, family violence, couple relationships and overall wellness. She has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology. In addition, Vicki is a clinical supervisor and instructor at the University of Winnipeg Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy Program. As a facilitator, Vicki delivers workshops that offer a high level of participatory experience, with humour and connection to participants' life experiences. She facilitates CTRI workshops and services related to crisis, violence, gender and sexuality, trauma and suicide.


Carl Heaman-Warne, MMFT

Carl has a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and has been working in the field of Crisis Intervention and Trauma for the past 15 years. He is also a therapist in a private practice and brings a wealth of clinical knowledge with him to his workshops. In addition, Carl teaches courses at both the college and graduate level. As a facilitator, Carl brings an engaging style that helps participants connect the material with their own lives and take away meaningful changes that they can implement right away. He facilitates workshops for CTRI related to crisis response, violence, trauma, mental illness, addictions and suicide.


Erwin Thiessen, BSW, MMFT, RSW

Erwin is an experienced and resourceful Registered Social Worker and Therapist who has provided holistic mental health services in both public and private practice. His collaborative and culturally sensitive approach with trauma-affected, multi-stressed families over the years has allowed him to gain insight into the troubling role that crisis and trauma can have on individuals, families and communities. His interpersonal communication skills, sense of humour and interactive, personal style create a dynamic workshop experience. He facilitates workshops for CTRI related to crisis response, violence, trauma, mental illness and suicide.


Cheryl Matthews, MMFT

Cheryl has a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. In addition to her work with CTRI, Cheryl works as a therapist in private practice and in a community agency family therapy center. Cheryl is also a clinical supervisor to students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of Winnipeg. She is an informative trainer who is gifted at making training material relevant to practical situations.


Mike Labun, BA

Mike Labun has over fifteen years experience in the mediation and conflict resolution field. He has a Certificate in Conflict Resolution and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. In addition to his work with CTRI, he teaches conflict resolution and mediation at the University of Winnipeg. As a facilitator, Mike has an interactive and engaging style that easily motivates participants to incorporate workshop material into their own environments.  He facilitates CTRI trainings and services in the areas of violence, conflict and mediation.


George Anderson, BA, CPP

George has more than twenty-five years of experience in crisis, conflict and workplace violence management. He draws upon his experience as a police officer, emergency medical technician and security manager to provide insightful and practical presentations. He is a Certified Protection Professional and holds Bachelor degrees in Social Sciences and Criminal Justice. In addition to his work with CTRI, he is the Director of safety, security and investigations for a crown agency. George delivers CTRI workshops and services in the areas of violence.
